The Chesapeake Arts Center Mural Project was a collaboration between FHN, Chesapeake Arts Center, and Brooklyn Park Middle School. The mural was designed by the FHN teaching artist known as The Artist Oliver James (Liv Gittens), and led by an all-female team of teaching artists who painted alongside students to complete ten panels that were later installed near the Arts Center’s entrance. The mural depicts a portrait of artist and activist Maya Angelou, along with one of Angelou's quotes about creativity - “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” A special thanks to Nicole Caracia for her onsite support and documentation.

Funding for this project came from the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County.
